Memorial and Tribute Gifts
Many people want to remember loved ones by honoring them with memorial gifts to the foundation. Others use special occasions—birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays—to make gift donations in honor of family and friends. We know that memorial and tribute gifts have special meaning—so we send a prompt, thankful acknowledgment to the person you honor or to the family of the person for which the memorial was donated.
Benefiting Others Through Your Will
Your will can be a creative vehicle for thoughtful gift-making. After providing for the needs of loved ones, you might consider using your will to support the organizations and institutions that matter most to you. You might also wish to name one or more charitable recipients in case your heirs don’t survive you.
By having your attorney revise your will or add a simple amendment, you can make a gift to Hancock Health Foundation of a dollar amount, a specific property, a percentage of your estate, or what is left after your loved ones have been taken care of.
A Large Gift at Low Cost Through Life Insurance
As your life changes, so do your life insurance needs. Many people have life insurance policies that were intended to cover contingencies that no longer apply. As a result, not all life insurance coverage may be needed for the reason it was initially purchased. And because federal law now exempts many estates from taxation, life insurance purchased to cover estate taxes may be obsolete.
That makes life insurance one of the best ways to make a significant gift to an organization you care about. You can name Hancock Health Foundation as a charitable beneficiary for all or part of your life insurance policy.
Another excellent way to make a gift of insurance is to purchase a new policy, naming the Foundation as beneficiary or co-beneficiary. It’s a way to ensure your gift to us is much larger than the cost to you—and does more good for our community in the future.
Charitable Gift Annuities (CGAs)
The Charitable Gift Annuity (CGA) program was adopted in 1997 for those individuals who wish to make a significant gift of an annuity, while retaining the lifetime income. The foundation’s first CGA was given by Judy and Denny Fisk.
To establish a charitable gift annuity, the donor transfers assets—e.g., stocks, bonds, and/or cash—to the foundation. In return, a guaranteed payment is made to the donor and/or spouse for their lifetime. It’s an excellent way to make a gift while still taking care of your ongoing financial needs.
