Whether you need us at Hancock Regional Hospital or in your home, we have the programs and the expert healthcare professionals to help you breathe easier.
Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program
Hancock Health’s pulmonary rehabilitation team provides education and exercise programs for individuals with chronic lung disease or respiratory disorders including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, and congestive heart failure (CHF). Sessions are held twice a week and usually last 9 to 10 weeks. The program includes:
- Insight into lung disease and how to live with it
- Strength and endurance training
- Breathing retraining education
- Advice on nutrition, activities of daily living, and wellness
- Smoking cessation strategies

You may schedule a referral by calling (317) 468-4600. Medicare patients must meet Medicare guidelines, which include a pulmonary function test.
Better Breathers Support Group
Hancock Health sponsors a Better Breathers support group for patients with chronic lung disease and their families. For more information, please contact the Respiratory Therapy Services Department at (317) 468-4380.
Pulmonary Function Lab
Patients with heart and lung conditions that require pulmonary function testing will find a full range of services available at our pulmonary function lab, including:
- Baseline testing
- Bronchodilator tests
- Arterial blood gas testing
- Spirometry testing
- Lung volume testing
- Airway resistance testing
- Diffusion capacity testing
- Closing volume testing
- Rest and exercise oximetry testing
- Nocturnal oximetry testing
